Laser Technology Explained

Developed in Boston, Massachusetts by Convergent Dental, Solea is the very first CO2 dental laser system cleared by the FDA to perform hard and soft tissue oral procedures. Based on in-depth research conducted at the University of California School of Dentistry, the laser uses a unique wavelength guided by sophisticated computers to complete a range of dental procedures for teeth and gums – from simple cavities to complex surgeries.

In fact, laser dentistry is effective on 90 to 95% of patients. New industry developments have resulted in a laser that’s more precise and works more quickly than past versions. The Solea® Dental Laser is the first of its kind, and unlike dental lasers of the past, it has proven to be extremely effective in treating tooth decay.

Less Invasive, More Convenient

Because patients enjoy a virtually painless experience, laser dentistry is truly changing what it means to go to the dentist. Even more complicated procedures can be completed in one office visit, followed by a much shorter recovery time. Plus, the absence of noisy drills helps put kids – and anxious parents – at ease. This is great news for little ones seeking laser correction for lip/tongue ties and cavities!

The majority of hard- and soft-tissue procedures in our office are done with no anesthesia, and soft-tissue procedures are done with virtually no bleeding. Blood-free and anesthesia-free procedures represent a major leap forward in dentistry, as we are able to execute multi-quadrant dentistry, fillings on the fly, and soft-tissue procedures in a single appointment.
